In Cajun Country, No One Fights Alone

Down South Heroes is a South Louisiana-based fundraising team dedicated to supporting the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Our fundraising efforts began in 2012. The team Down South Heroes was officially established with a commitment to making a difference in the lives of children and families facing childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

What started as a small backyard fundraiser has grown into a year-round mission powered by 72 dedicated team members, countless volunteers, generous sponsors, and strong community support. Through fundraising events held throughout the year, our team has raised millions of dollars for St. Jude, helping ensure that families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing, or food.

Each year, Down South Heroes travels to Memphis, Tennessee, to participate in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend. More importantly, this annual trip allows us to personally deliver the donations raised throughout the year, tour the hospital, meet St. Jude families, and witness firsthand the impact that these contributions make. Seeing the mission in action continues to inspire and strengthen our commitment to helping St. Jude advance research, treatment, and hope for children around the world.

Over the years, Down South Heroes has become one of the nation's most successful community fundraising teams. We have consistently ranked among the Top 10 Community Fundraising Teams at the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend and earned the distinction of being recognized as the #1 Community Fundraising Team in the nation in 2018, 2024, and 2025. In 2025, our team achieved its most successful fundraising year to date, raising $354,420. As of 2026, we have already raised $204,536 and continue to build on that success through a variety of fundraising events and community initiatives.

What began as a simple idea among friends has grown into a lasting commitment to a cause greater than ourselves. The success of Down South Heroes would not be possible without the support of our volunteers, sponsors, donors, and community partners who believe in the mission of St. Jude. Together, we are helping find cures, save children, and ensure that families can focus on what matters most: their child's health and future.
